Low quality shoes
This is my fourth pair of bates that have had the heels disintegrate. This was my second time wearing this pair and they fell apart after walking about 100 yards. Completely unacceptable, especially for a 2 year old pair of shoes worn only twice.

Bates Footwear Price Scam or Mistake?
I ordered a pair of Bates DuraShocks 8" side zip boots directly from batesfootwear.com during the morning of Sept. 16, 2015. While I was placing the order, I noticed a banner that said I get $125.00 off. I thought it was to good to be true. I ordered the boot. I also asked for 1-3 day shipping. I received email confirmation showing that I got the discount, but I never received a shipping confirmation or even a phone call letting me know that the company canceled my order. I called them on the 18th and spoke to customer service. They made a mistake while doing tests on the web page. I always have to pay for my mistakes, why don't you? I informed her, "It was what was advertised." She said they would not honor it. She did not even offer some sort of small promo to try to make me happy. I have worn their boots on-duty for about twenty years. The quality is not worth the price, but they were comfortable. I moved on to Rocky after reading the much better reviews. They gave me a really good discount and honored it. Hey, Bates Customer Service, if you care enough about your customer or products then take the time to search the web to ensure your long time customers are happy and make things right like American Companies use to. This is who I am, order confirmation #W102695**** dated September 16, 2015 at 5:00 AM.
I have 21 years of experience as a LEO. I managed a business for eight years prior to LE. I have a lot of experience in the areas of public relations and marketing, so here is my goal. I work in a county that has thousands of law enforcement officers and I belong to a very large military based organization. I will ensure that they all know about your customer service and false advertising that you contest is a mistake. I will also take every spare moment I have to create these blogs. I will also encourage other customers to do the same.

Expensive for low quality!
I was looking for a good replacement for my 5.11's, and thought I found it in these. After 2 months of service, in a 10 hour a day, 5 day a week job walking 5 miles or so on hilly asphalt all day, these boots are falling apart.
The sole on the bottom is worn smooth in spots, and the traction nubs are cracked, allowing water in. The front of the toe where the sole connects to the leather is also coming undone. The upper half of the boot itself is well broke in and comfortable, the sole quality itself in the boot is just awful.
I'm hard on my boots, but I expect at least 6-12 months service out of them. This is just plain insanity that they held up so poorly.
Bates Boots
I purchase a pair of these expensive boots, in less than one year the soles of both boots came off.
The glue just turned loose.
i am a firefighter, and discovered this after a house fire when I went to put the boots back on after taking them off to put my fire gear on for the fire.
I was without a spare pair of boots with me and had to return home to get more boots, driving in my socks.
I contacted the manufacturer simply asking what type of glue I could use to repair the boots, the answer I got was to send them back (at my expense) and they would look at them.
If anyone is considering Bates, reconsider. Just go to WalMart, and buy your boots from them.
The price is lower, and the quality higher.

Purchased a pair of expensive BATES LITES oxfords for military
uniform requirement. Wore twice, and on the third use I was
wearing them for drill practice in dress blues...
The entire heals and soles crumbled on the tarmac.
Bates claims it was because of Hydrolysis..
Which means in layman's terms. "If you don't wear them or store them for any length of time, kiss them goodbye" It cost $85.00 to re-sole, so go buy another pair of Bate's...
We need the business... Thanks sucker
